Introduction:
In this Rhetorical Analysis Essay I will discuss the article “Fake news detection within online social media using supervised artificial intelligence algorithms.” The article discusses how news has been less costly and easily accessible via social media instead of buying a newspaper. The advantage of reading the news online is that when you look at your phone, tablet and or laptop it will be the first thing you see when you open any social media platform. Everyone wants to know the facts right away when it comes to politics, fashion, entertainment and so forth. The huge disadvantage is the fake news that plagues these platforms which creates a huge problem. Fake news on social media destroys the integrity of real news itself.
Everything that is posted on social media is so easily shareable and when it is shared it spreads like fire. Many people would believe any article that has been shared because they feel that it is not necessary to watch the news. This type of new wave of fake news is affecting everyone such as politicians, celebrities and even businesses. It is so easy to believe everything on social media without checking the facts from other sources such as watching the news or even reading the news online from authentic news media. The introduction of this article starts on how news on social media is easily readable and how fake news creates a negative impact to society. It has created a big challenge for the news readers and how believable is the news they read off social media.
Background information:
The article starts describing a two step method of using artificial intelligent algorithms. These artificial algorithms can pinpoint anything that is unusual about an article by using special features that have been created with the program itself. In this article there is related works of many other computer coders that have created other artificial intelligent algorithms such as BayesNet, JRip, OneR, Decision Stump, ZeroR. Each of these programs can detect fabricated news within words, numerations, symbols and punctuations. Now the related models are other programs such as Text Mining, Data Pre-Processing, Extraction and Selection of Features and many more. Each of these features use special types of commands and computation in order to extract words, numbers and symbols. These computer applications have been created by computer coders who can program the application by using specific searches. These searches can consist of certain words being used, and or pinpoint a word by using a negative sign in front of the word. All of these computations begin with using mathematics into these applications. Mainly this article reaches out to the experts of artificial intelligence and every article has its technical description and breakdowns of the algorithms.
Methods and Results:
There is a combination of different artificial intelligence algorithm programs that have been created by many computer coders that use different computation. Each of these programs such as BayesNet, JRip, OneR, Decision Stump, ZeroR can detect specific words. These programs are set up to look for special words and even numbers and detect them from different social media platforms. Once they have been detected it takes off that fake news information so the article or articles can be believable to the readers and of course align with what is being shared on the real media outlets. There is a specific process that is called Tokenization which is a used token to remove punctuation from textual data. There is a number filter in the Tokenization where numbers are to be removed from the articles and convert them into lower or uppercase texts.
Within this article there are over 6 steps that have been used to detect fake news and within the 6 steps there are over 23 fake news detectors which are artificial intelligence algorithms. Each of these programs have been created by computer coders and they use scientific and mathematical methods to create these programs. Within the 23 fake news detectors each program has a graph and how each program has detected such texts and numbers within social media. Of course not every program can detect what text or numbers are fake and that is why they do test runs on each social media platform. These algorithms have been created with mathematical and scientific computation to program these artificial intelligence to go through an entire article and pinpoint fabricated news. These algorithms are so advanced that they can extract out the fake news by using special computation terms.
The actual program is skimming through the articles in a fast paced method and extracts the words, numbers and punctuations that do not go with the news. These programs illustrate how effective it is to remove the fake news off social media. Many of these social media make a lot of money because there are so many users and viewers from all around the world that rely on it. In this article it shows you what is real and what is fake when it comes down to the terms being used such as nouns, pronouns, verbs and if there are any grammatical errors. It can detect if there are too many commas, question marks in between full sentences.
In this article there is clarity within the reading for those who can understand the specific methods within formulas and technical description. The intended target within this article are for those who created codes within the AI stage and they can understand the language of this article. There are quite a few graphs, models and computations within the different works of the algorithms that have been used to detect fabricated news within social media. It also breaks down into graphs of each artificial intelligence algorithm by using numbers on the accuracy, precisions and the recalls. Not every algorithm will pinpoint the fabricated news of an article; this is why these programs are created on a daily basis with different computations.
Conclusion:
The article is well informative with its explanations on fake news and how it impacts social media. The author breaks down the informative article with technical description with artificial intelligent algorithms, its related works and related models. These fake detector programs have been a great advantage to social media, news and to everyone else. The best way to detect these fabricated news is to remove them in total by using these models. The best way for these programs to be accurate in the near future is by doing many test runs on social media platforms so it can pinpoint information accurately.
